My work reflects my need to communicate the burden of the human condition. Each of my pieces strives to capture a figurative moment in time, a kind of emotional landscape. In a sense, the work represents essences from several turning points in my life.

In choosing to work with mainly bronze and rock, I am able to address society's tendency to delineate and separate; to categorize and label the world. My work attempts to break through these illusory disparities. The contrast between the smooth, fluid lines of my tenuated bodies and the natural rock actually creates a sense of unity and oneness for me. I love to play with the concept of the two surfaces working together, to create an aesthetic whole. To me, this contrast is the struggle of life itself. As I search for the rock that will pair with the body of each individual piece, it becomes obvious that the humanly created world and nature can find an equilibrium.

I find deep creative fulfillment in working with the everlasting  medium of bronze. In essence each piece undergoes a form of rebirth—from the shaping of clay, through the lost-wax process, to the chasing of the metal—until its final, the resonant surface emerges. Reworking the finish is an essential part of my process; as the bronze comes alive with clarity and depth, the raw, primal character of the rock becomes even more apparent.

As a final enhancement, the patina and the color is dependent on the ultimate mood I want to infuse into each piece, bringing the figures into a vibrant living space.
